Annapurna View Trekking

This Pokhara- Dhampus- Sarangkot trek strats from the Phedi. Its 7-8 hours drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara; and the 45 minutes drive from Pokhara. This Dhampus Sarankot trek is also known as the alternative trek for Annapurna view trek. It is trouble free and the walk is easy and comfortable through the middle hills of Nepal. We travel around the local culture and custom, fascinating Pokhara valley and the snow-capped white Himalayan peaks.

Annapurna View Trekking Pokhara is one of the most delightful valleys of Himalayas which offers impressive panoramic view of the surrounding. Besides the snow-capped mountains, other attractions are Fewa, Begnas and Rupa Lake. You can also see the waterfalls, cave, White Water Rivers. In addition, culture, religious temples and the monastery are equally fascinating.

Sarangkot's altitude is 1592 Meters above sea level and views take in Pokhara, the greater Pokhara Valley and beyond to the main Annapurna ranges peaks. Annapurna South 7195, Annapurna I 7647, Machhapuchure 6997, Annapurna III 7555, Annapurna II 7937, Annapurna IV 7525, Lamjung Himal 6986. Pokhara Valley lies alongside the Annapurna Range.

There is a village just below the ridge, but a set of steps leads uphill to a dramatic viewpoint in the ruins of an ancient kot (hill fort). It is currently occupied by the army, but photography is fine, as long as you don't take pictures of the soldiers

Trip day to day itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu. Flying to Kathmandu along the northern border of Nepal on a clear day is in itself an exciting and memorable experience. As you fly, the panoramic view of snow-capped Annapurna mountain range greets your sight. After the completion of Visa formalities, you have to come downstairs to collect Luggage and proceed to outside from terminal Building. Please look at your Printed Name and Our Company Signboard Annapurna Foothills Treks & Exp and follow them. Meet our representative and then you will be transferred to hotel. You will be served free welcome drinks, tea or coffee or juice at the time of check in.

The Managing Director or The Manager of company will meet you in hotel and will brief about the trip. You should clear your dues before we proceed for the trip. You are free to relax or explore around the city in the very first day.

Day 02: Sight seeing Kathmandu AM: Guided visit of Kathmandu City and Swayambhunath.

Day 03: Kathmandu to Pokhara: Early in the morning, transfer to pokhara bus station & drive seven hours to Pokhara, check in at hotel and evening Phew lake exploration.

Day 04: Trek Pokhara-Dhampus (1650 m) After breakfast, we take 45 minutes drive to Suikhet Phedi (1130m), where our trekking crews will be waiting for us. Then we start the trek ascending the trial, from here the path diverts and climbs the ridge above the Yangri Stream and reaches the village of Astam at the top of the ridge. Follow the ridge west through the Henjakot & reach to Dhampus, from here one can have a closer view of Mt. Machhapuchre & Annapurna South. Over night stay lodge.

Day 05: Dhampus to Sarangkot; trek Take breakfast at the same lodge and then trek to Sarankot (1592 mtr. 5/6 hours walking) over night at Lodge and see the sun set view, Over night at Lodge.

Day 06: Sarangkot to Pokhara; trek Early in the morning to sunrise view over the Whole Annapurna And Dhaulagiri Ranges including fishtail as well as other soaring mountain and back to Pokhara and then trek down to Pokhara (2 hours walking) and over night at hotel in the lake side.

Day 07: Pokhara to Kathmandu Early morning, transfer to pokhara tourist bus station for driving back to Kathmandu and it takes around 6 hours, check in Hotel in Kathmandu , overnight stay at hotel.

Day 08: Kathmandu city tour. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 09: Departure your destination. Transfer to international airport for your final departure. The trip ends, our Airport Representative will drop you to the Tribhuvan International Airport for your flight departure from Nepal

I was trekking on the Annapurna Base Camp Trek in November 2007 together with two friends. It was wonderful getting to know rural Nepal and experiencing the enchanting scenery of the mountains. Ngima Sherpa was our trekking guide. It was his great enthusiasm that made our trip an unforgettable experience! He was reliable, perfectly organised and did far more than the necessary "guiding job": for example getting up in the early hours to run before us to secure accomodation, providing a girl we met on the trek with equipment when her shoes became broken or recommending accomodation in Karthmandu. The daily parts of the trek were well organized with enough time for breaks and to accomodate to the altitude.
