
Island peak climbing meant a lot to mountaineers for it is exciting for both amateur and serious climber. This can be the perfect choice for those who want to mix adventure in their trekking. Island Peak is also one of the most sought climbing in Nepal. Island peak is clearly seen from the Dingboche. The mountain itself is the extension of the South Ridge of Lhotse Shar separated by a small col.
This trek offers the stunning view of Himalayan panorama and you will come to see Buddhist culture. Island Peak also provides spectacular views of the Himalayans. From the summit, we see many peaks such as Nuptse (7,879m), Lhotse (8,501m), Lhotse Middle Peak (8,410m) and Lhotse Shar (8,383m) make a semi circle in the north. The views of Makalu (8475m), Barutse (7129m) in the east and famous expedition peak of Amadablam (6812m) in the south are never to be forgotten.
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu: Flying to Kathmandu along the northern border of Nepal on a clear day is in itself an exciting and memorable experience. As you fly, the panoramic view of snow-capped Annapurna mountain range greets your sight. After the completion of Visa formalities, you have to come downstairs to collect Luggage and proceed to outside from terminal Building. Please look at your Printed Name and Our Company Signboard Annapurna Foothills Treks & Expedition follows them. Meet our representative and then you will be transferred to hotel. You will be served free welcome drinks, tea or coffee or juice at the time of check in.
The Managing Director or The Manager of company will meet you in hotel and will brief about the Island peak. You should clear your dues before we proceed for the trip. You are free to relax or explore around the city in the very first day. Over night stay at Hotel.
Day 02: Sight seeing Kathmandu
AM: Guided visit of Kathmandu City and Swayambhunath.
PM: Guided visit of Boudhanath Stupa and Pashupatinath + Read more
Day 03: Fly Kathmandu to Lukla Trek to Phakdingma: Island Peak Climbing starts flying from Kathmandu to Lukla. Initially the trail descends steadily along the banks of the Dudh Koshi River , passing Sherpa villages and Mani stones before reaching Phakding .Overnight stay at guesthouse with breakfast, lunch and dinner included with Tea and Coffee.
Day 04: Trek to Namche bazzar: We continue trekking along the bank of the Dudh Kosi, crossing this majestic river many times on exciting suspension bridges laden with prayer flags. After entering Sagamartha National Park, the trail climbs steeply with breathtaking views to Namche Bazaar, the gateway to the Khumbu region. We stay overnight at Namche bazzar. Overnight stay at guesthouse.
Day 05: Trekking in Namche Bazaar Acclimatization day. Today is very important day for completing your destination i.e. Island Peak climbing. After reaching Namche bazzar, we take a day off for complete rest and adequate acclimatization before starting Everest base camp trekking, Today, we hike up the Syangboche Airport around Everest View Hotel. From this point, we can see rewarding views of the Himalayas with a stunning sunrise and sunset over the panorama of Khumbu peaks. Overnight stay at guesthouse.
Day 06: Trek to Tengbuche The trail leads past the large Sherpa settlement of Khumjung and then descends deep into the Dudh Kosi Valley at Pungki Thanka. The trail then ascends the right flank of the Dudh Kosi valley to Tengboche at 3870m., home to the famous Tengboche Monastery, spiritual center of the Khumbu. The climb is long but, more than adequately compensated by views of Mt. Amadablam and on clear days views of Mt. Everest and it surrounding peaks. Amadablam means "Mother's Charm Box" and is named after the little box that Sherpa women wear around their necks. It is also one of the most beautiful mountains in the Himalaya Overnight stay at guesthouse.
Day 07: Trek to Dingbuce Descend through a beautiful forest, then cross the Imja Khola and trek through the village of Pangboche. The route continues through summer pastures to Dingboche 4,400 m. Also Dingbuche is second place for acclimatization of Everest base camp Trek. Overnight stay at guesthouse.
Day 08: Trekking Dingboche Chhkung Ri hiking Today you can enjoy another day for acclimatization. We will have trip to Chhukung valley via the Imja Khola valley to get a marvellous view of the surrounding mountains, especially Lhotse’s massive south wall, we feel Everest Base camp trekking is very valuable for Trekkers, then return to Dingboche in the evening. Overnight stay at guesthouse.
Day 09: Trek to Lobuche We continue up the wide valley beneath the impressive peaks of Cholatse and Tawache on the left. We then turn right and take a steep climb towards the foot of the Khumbu Glacier. The tea house at Duglha is a good spot to have lunch. The trail zigzags up through the boulders of the glacier's terminal moraine. At the top of this climb, there are many stone cairns, built as memorials to the many Sherpas who have died while climbing Mt Everest. The path then climbs gently along the glacier, eventually reach the cluster of houses at Lobuche. Overnight stay at guesthouse.
Day 10: Trek to EBC (Everest Base Camp) Today we reach our destination by trekking to Everest Base Camp at an altitude of 5363m. After appreciating our efforts and photographing the achievement, we return to Gorak Shep. Overnight stay at guesthouse.
Day 11: Gorakshep to Dingbuche / Chhukung To reach our next stop, Kala Pattar, we follow the Khumbu Glacier. The trail offers superb views of the surrounding mountains, especially where the path is forced to rise to cross a tributary glacier. We stop for lunch at Lobuche, return to Dingbuche. Overnight stay at guesthouse.
Day 12: Chhukung to Island Peak Base camp: (5,200m) From Chhukung, the path leads steep, climbing south and the turn east line of the valley. Then the trail twists below the southern flank of the moraine from the Lhotse glacier. We continue short yet pleasant walking along the river side and leads to a Big-rock. On the south of this rock, the Amphu Lapcha route lies. The criss cross route through Imja and Lhotse glacier leads to a wide valley. It flanks the south west side of the Island peak. We stay overnight at Island peak base camp. We set up a tent at base camp and you will be served meals there. Overnight stay at tent.
Day 13: Base Camp to High Camp (5600m) We get up early in the morning as today is the summit day. We check our equipments after having light breakfast. Then we start our summit bid. We continue up the mountain if the weather and snow/ice conditions are good. We try to reach the 20,300ft (6189m) summit of Island Peak within 5 – 6 hours. On the summit, we take some pictures and have some snacks then we start descending back to the base camp quickly. You will find a warm greeting and large dinner waiting you in the base camp. This is bound to make you fatigue but rewards you as well. Overnight stay at tent.
Day 14: High camp to summit to Base camp to Chhukung: We have to climb the rock culvert from early in the morning. Although it is not difficult, there are many short rock steps to be crossed before you come across the right side of the culvert. Then the trail leads to the ridgeline and it ultimately leads to traverse on to the snout of the summit glacier. You will need to rope up for the glacier as it contains several crevasses but it leads without difficulty, to a 100m(330ft) snow and ice slope (40-45°) on which the guides will fix a rope. From the top of this slope, 3 rope lengths along a sharp summit ridge lead to the top. After enjoying the summit views you will descend all the way to Chhukung. We stay overnight at guest house in Chhukung. You will be provided three meals a day there. Overnight stay at lodge/ tent
Day 15: Extra Day in for in case bad weather
Day 16: Chhukung to Tengboche 3,870m Gradually, We trek down to Dingboche and the trek continues down the Pangboche. We trek same trail back which was used top trek up. The trek then comes down to the river. After crossing the river, we walk for an hour up through the forest and reach at Tengboche. We stay overnight at lodge there.
Day 17: Tengboche to Namche Bazaar
Day 18: Namche Bazzar to Lukla Boosted by all our new red blood cells, We rush down the footpath going to Sagarmatha National Park gate, in Jorsale. Later, Lukla's footpath leads us through the first villages we saw two weeks ago : Gumila, Phakding, Choplung. The high peaks disappear behind the hills. In Lukla, This last evening in the mountains is the ideal opportunity for a farewell party with the sherpa guides and porters, where you can sample some chhang, try Nepali and Sherpa dance and look back on a memorable trekking experience and staffs are expecting for precious Tips.
Day 19: Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu You take an early morning flight back to Kathmandu . Over Night stay in Hotel
Day 20: Sight seeing in Kathmandu. After breakfast, our city guide reaches in Hotel with Vehicles, then we drive to Bhaktapur Durbar Square. Bhaktapur is one of the oldest cities in Kathmandu valley. It is well known as Living Museum. Old brick paved enclave of old Royal palace, Nyathapola Temple, Datatriya temple, exquisite artwork offers a picture of the grandeur of medieval Nepal. And Patan is located 7 km away from Kathmandu, this city has many 15th to 17th century, Hindu and Buddhist, monuments built during the Malla dynasty. The most important area with many monuments is the Patan Durbar Square. (Culture program) Over night stay at Hotel.
Day 21: Kathmandu – departure Transfer to international airport for your final departure. The trip ends, our Airport Representative will drop you to the Tribhuvan International Airport for your flight departure from Nepal

I was trekking on the Annapurna Base Camp Trek in November 2007 together with two friends. It was wonderful getting to know rural Nepal and experiencing the enchanting scenery of the mountains. Ngima Sherpa was our trekking guide. It was his great enthusiasm that made our trip an unforgettable experience! He was reliable, perfectly organised and did far more than the necessary "guiding job": for example getting up in the early hours to run before us to secure accomodation, providing a girl we met on the trek with equipment when her shoes became broken or recommending accomodation in Karthmandu. The daily parts of the trek were well organized with enough time for breaks and to accomodate to the altitude.
